These are the things that are most occupying my weird little brain today:
1. My co-worker told me that a door to door salesman came to her house the other day. She opened the door because she saw him coming and her husband was sleeping, she didn't want him to be awakened by the sound of the doorbell. At the door is a young man whose first words to her are: "Can I show you my meat?" If this were me, I would have screamed and slammed the door (well, unless it was, like, Brad Pitt or something). My co-worker, however, was astute enough to notice the truck parked nearby with the name of a meat company on it. Still, she declined the offer to visually inspect his meat, at which point he asked her if she was sure, because he "has it right here, it'd be really easy, and its good meat." I thought I was going to die while I was being told this story...and yet no one else was laughing. Is there something wrong with me?
2. I have now seen mention in two magazines and on one website that the TV show from my youth, "Small Wonder," is being released on DVD. I am BEYOND excited about this, and yet no one I mention it to seems to know what show I'm talking about. Come ON, people: "She's fantastic, made of plastic, she'll enchant you at first sight...she's a smaaaall wonder and she'll make your heart take flight!" Anyone know what I'm talking about? I would do just about anything to get this show on DVD. I hope I get some cash from my mama for my birthday, because I know what I'm buyin' with it!
3. Why would a taxi company buy old cop cars to build their fleet? Ok, that's not the best question as I can totally understand why they would do this, the price is probably right and they are likely fairly well maintained. But the problem is, they still look just like our local sheriff's department cars. They are still forest green, still have the spotlight mounted by the driver's side mirror, still have the weird grill thing on front (for pushing other cars I think?). The reason I think this is a problem is that it causes me (and I'm sure many other drivers) to drive super slow when they are around, because we *think* they are police cars. I would just think a taxi company would prefer traffic to flow better so they can get their fares where they're going faster...after all, they charge by the mile not the minute, right?
4. Sometimes when I order something "extra hot" from Starbucks, it is in fact the regular level of hot. Thus, tonight when my lovely co-worker (yes, the same who was offered meat viewing) brought me my super delicious grande-nonfat-carmel-macchiato- extra-carmel-extra-hot, I took a big sip and burned my tongue. But its still delicious. Maybe next time I'll order it as a grande-nonfat-carmel-macchiato-extra-carmel-extra-hot-NOT-extra-extra-hot. You think this will work?
5. I am ridiculously twitterpated. I still can't stop grinning like an idiot and blushing bright red whenever RG is mentioned. I've got it bad. :D
Yes, I too, have had a visit from a meat guy. If he were younger and less ucky I may have laughed at a comment like that, but as he wasn't, it would have been a bit scarey!
ReplyDeleteFunny thing is, I always see a white "old cop car" that is a taxi driving maliciously and for some reason he was actually pulled over the other day. I called the cops on him one time. Revenge or karma however you see fit.
Small Wonder... She talked like a robot and we all pretended to be just like her as a kid. I loved it too!
that is funny about Small Wonder...did you see it in a mag in Somer's shop. That is where I saw it and we discussed it. I had to decline a meat guy twice...recently. I always burn my mouth on pizza. I tell myself this time I will wait but burn myself just the same. Happy for you. :)
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud at the meat story.
ReplyDeleteNo idea what Small Wonder is. Did you end up getting it for your birthday?
No Ashley, I didn't get it for my birthday, I spent my money on other stuff...it is, however, on my Netflix list!
